One Sports Hostel in Football discipline and is functioning at Nayagarh since 15/8/2001.The sanctioned strength is 22..The students of age group 10-14 years and reading in class VI and VII selected from different schools and after a series of selection at district level and state level organized by Directorate of sports and Y.S are allowed to stay in the hostel.During their stay in the hostel they will be imparted coaching in Footbal by a qualified Coach in Football both in morning and evening hour without disturbing their normal study in school hour.The students are admitted in local schoolas per their classes.Their admission fees etc are borne by Govt. The students are provided with Sports Uniforms,Track suites, Sports shoes and other materials relating to their stay in the hostel by Govt. besides the feeding expenses Rs 75/-per day per head as per the menu chart prepared by Govt. are provided.Regular tests are conducted intervally to evaluate their progress.

Every year as per the programme received from Directorate of Sports and Y.S. regarding State and national level are conducted inviting boys/girls of below 16 years of age to constitute a district team.The district team participates in the State level competition and the selected boys/girls from the State level competitionare sent to national level competition by the Directorate.

This is also an every year programme which is conducted in district.State and National level as per above.In this competition only girls of any age group either student or non student can take part.

Youths of 15-35 age groups are involved in this programme.The youths(boys/girls) of the districtare selected and sponsored to the Youth exchange programme like Coastal Trecking programme, Hill Trecking and other such adventure activities and also to Seminars and Integration camps etc. organized by the Directorate.

Youth festival is basically a cultural programmein the events like Classical Dance,Folk Dance,Folk song,One act play(Hindi/Eng) and solo items like Tabla, Mridangam, harmonium, Veena, sitar, Guitar, Elocution(Hindi/Eng) competition at district level are usually conducted in the 2^nd fortnight of December every year.The Cultural institutions, colleges ,NGO’s are informed to sponsor the talented Youths for the District level competition . The selected artist of District level competition are sponsored to State Youth Festival and to National Youth Festival.

The Birthday of Late Dhyan Chand, the Hockey Wizard of India is celebrated as National Sports Day by the District Sports Office, Nayagarh every year on 29^th August. On the occasion Debate, Rally and Football/Hockey matches are conducted through out the day to remember this Great Hockey Player as India.

This is a Govt. of India Scheme. The competition is organized by an organizing Committee under the Chairmanship of Collector at Block Level and District Level with the financial assistance from Govt. of India. In this competition Inter H.S. competition is organized at Block level under the super vision of Block level committee in Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Archery etc.. The Champion teams as Block level competition participate in District Level Competition. Similary the Champion teams from District Level Competition participate in State Level Competition organized by Directorate of Sports & Youth Sports, Orissa, Bhubaneswar and the State Champion team participate in National Level Competition.

As per the scheme of Govt. of India, so far the amounts as per the list was released for development of playfields in the schools of 8 Blocks of the District. Apart from this 10 Acs. Of land have been taken for construction of a district level stadium at Nayagarh. Plan & Estimate for Rs.2,54,00,000/- have been sent to Govt. for sanction of funds. Itr will be taken up in a phased manner.

Sports Pension, Sports Scholarship to students, State & National Youth Awards, Bravery awards, Sports & Youth grants to Regd.Organisations are also looked after by the District Sports Office.
