                         In pursuance of Revenue and Excise Deptt.Notifrication No.3345/Rev dt.21.01.1993, this district is created after bifurcating Puri District and started functioning with effect from 1.4.1993.

                        There are two Police Circles, 9 Police Stations, 14 Police Out Posts, 2 Police Beat Houses and 4 Court Officers are functioning in this District as furnished below.

            The Police Circles are under the charge of an Officer in the rank of Inspector of Police.

                         Out of above, nine Police Stations, Nayagarh P.S. is under the charge of an Officers in the rank of Inspector of Police and remaining 8 Police Stations are under the charge of Officers of the rank of Sub-Inspector of Police.

C) WIRELESS TRANSMISSION STATION : - 

              A  Wireless Transmission Station is functioning in this district to transmit messages to S.P.Headquarters and other higher quarters/other district head quarters. 

DISTRICT HOMEGUARDS ORGANISATION: 

            There are 299 nos. of Homeguards sanctioned to this District.  Superintendent of Police, Nayagarh is the Commandant of the District Homeguards.  The Home guards are assisting the Police in maintenance of Law and  Order and in Traffic Contro duties by getting Duty Call Allowance of Rs.50/- per day.
